LDP Pilot

Together with the Salamieh UNDP Telecentre, we are in the process of establishing the city's first foreign-language library. It is being designed to function as an active learning and knowledge space, in line with the LDP concept. This in turn is informing the concept of a NUHA Centre, which will become the benchmark of our future LDP initiatives.

The Salamieh NUHA Centre is currently slated to be run out of the historic Al Jandoul building. This is a two-storey structure situated in the heart of Salamieh and surrounded by green spaces.

To make the launch successful, we are looking into refurbishing Al Jandoul so as to set it up adequately. The facility will initially be equipped with ten computers, thanks to a generous donation and a grant. We are also working on the more functional aspects of the library, such as the cataloguing and book management system.
