We approach each library-project from five different angles:
Functional. One addresses libraries as functional organisations: we work with our partner libraries to put in place or improve, as applicable, both their administrative and library-specific processes, and with their staff to ensure the sustainability of these processes and the transmission of related skills.
Resource. The second focuses on libraries as a resource: we assist our partner libraries with developing collections of foreign language materials, primarily in English. It is also important that they have adapted equipment and facilities, including computers with high-speed internet access.
Active. Thirdly, our partner libraries operate as active learning centres within their communities. They bring their users together through tailored activities and events that aim to promote the LDP goals while preserving the beneficiaries' cultural and national identities.
Link. Fourthly, we link our partner libraries together so that they may pool resources, share materials and institutional learning, and to improve monitoring and evaluation of the LDP. Working together, our partner libraries also gain the capacity to design and implement innovative activities for their users.
Sustainable. Fifthly, through stimulating connection amongst and between the library users, the libraries and their communities, we are careful to ensure the long term sustainability of the benefits of the LDP, including the financial viability of the libraries.
